progress on unpacking
That is how the dining room looks currently.
The top two shelves of the china cabinet are almost what I think they may look like permanently. But there is at least one extraneous piece on the upper left. Right now, the lower shelves are storage until I can get other parts of my apartment set up.
Note that on the dining room table is a beautiful miniature peace (?) lily that Mom and Dad bought for me.
I hope to take close-ups of it later today.
Here is how the dining room looked before Mom and I spent the day cleaning and putting the breakables inside the cabinet. This was also, of course, before Texas Seestor, Mom and I came down and brought in the table and chairs.
I will take a shot of the living/dining room together once I finish it a little bit more.

That is the progress that I’ve made in the master bedroom closet.
It may not look fantastic, but when you compare it to what it was like earlier you will see the difference, I think.
You will note that I’ve hung up all of my hanging clothes, stored some of the household items that might eventually go in the garage (but needed somewhere to go for now), put the heat-sensitive Christmas stuff in there, and stored various bags that needed to go somewhere too.
Again, some of it may end up in the 2nd bedroom closet or the garage. But for now, they are at least in a reasonable spot.
I still haven’t put the linens away or my extra accessories. But I realized as I was in bed this morning and brainstorming out my day that I absolutely HAVE to get the items that cannot withstand the heat on a long-term basis out of the garage and into the closet today. I’ve heard that it is supposed to get really hot this weekend. That will be one of my main tasks today.
Well, with that, I ought to get started. At this time of day, it is pretty reasonable to be moving things in and out of the garage, because the temp is cooler.
FYI: Yesterday, I ended up spending a bunch of time dealing with the car registration and such only to find out that HB and I didn’t transfer the title correctly from him to me (according to TX anyway). I have to mail him some paperwork and he will have to mail it back. It isn’t a big deal, but it took the wind out of my sails to not get it all done yesterday.
Also, I looked at TV stands at the Best Buy and Target in my town and was really disappointed in the selections. There is one potential stand at Target, but I want to see what else is out there first. It is not as wide as the TV (40 inches at the widest point instead of 42). BUT it is made to withstand the weight of a 50 inch TV and the wood is the right color for my living room set and it has a curved shape – which would also fit with the set. So, I may end up getting that one. We’ll see.
I’m going to check out the two stores near Texas Seestor and see if the selection is a little bit more extensive.
Okay. Now I really have to get started!
