First night and full day in apartment
Hi again,
As you can see from the title, I spent the first night in my apartment last night.
Yesterday, I went ahead and spent the morning at Texas Seestor’s and Trainwreck’s home helping with my two nieces as they got ready for work and daycare. Once my Seestor drove off with them, I started gathering allllllllll of my stuff to bring to the apartment. I think that she left at about 8:00ish and I didn’t leave until 10:45! I couldn’t believe that there was so much to sort, pack, and load into my car.
They were kind enough to let me take food with me for lunch and for supper so that I didn’t have to run out to the grocery first thing when I arrived at my apartment. Good thing too, because today, when I tried to find the grocery according to the directions that I’d found on Google ahead of time, I never did find it! Luckily, I knew where the Target was located, and everything that I need in the short term is also sold at Target. geesh.
Anyway, back to yesterday. One of the first things I realized that I needed to do was get my microwave set up (in time for supper!), so I spent a while unpacking the last boxes of kitchen stuff and trying to find a way to squeeze my belongings into the kitchen in an organized way that will make using it easier in the future. And I got the microwave set up. The tea is still all sort of a mess until I get a little farther in my unpacking.
Then I made sure that I unpacked all of the bathroom stuff so that the bathroom was ready to use. And I was struggling with where to put the towels, which meant that I had to figure out if they need to go in my master bedroom closet. That led me to unpack all of my hanging clothes. And at that point, it was so late in the day, that the towels are still sitting on the floor in my bedroom and the cleaning stuff is still in a pile on the floor – waiting for a location. I had realized that it was getting later and later and I still hadn’t gotten my linens out for my bed and my bed made. I did that at about 7 pm and then ate supper.
Well, it turns out I overdid it, because I ended up with a migraine today. *sigh*
Today, I pretty much ate breakfast, reread a good chunk of Queen of Swords (in preparation for Endless Forest) which makes me think that I should be going back ANOTHER book to Fire Along the Sky, but I don’t even know where that is located amongst my boxes of books. Anyway, it is wonderful to read it again. I took a morning nap, which led me to feel just good enough to go out to the grocery for food for lunch.
And that is when I drove around and around looking for the grocery. In the end, I gave up and (like I said earlier), I went to Target. Luckily, their grocery section is huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge. And their lean cuisine’s are on sale right now for $1.88 (or maybe $1.82?) which is about $1 off of normal. So, I really stocked up.
I got home, ate lunch, read more, napped more, read more, and now I’m at the library down the road from my apartment using their free wireless!
And you know what that means? I also have a library card now!
It is a beautiful library; the woman who helped me get my card said that they have only been in this location for about 10 years. The only downside is that I’m sitting in a lounge chair that is leather-ish and I’m pretty much sticking to it. It is cool here, but still warm enough that I’m sticking.
Anyway, I’ll get internet set up in my apartment in about a week. But for now, I can come to the library.
Interestingly, they are open 9 am to 9 pm, they sell Starbucks out of a Starbucks vending machine (?), and allow covered drinks. Of course the coffeeshop in the downtown is tempting to go to as well, but for now, the library suits me fine.
Well, I guess that is it for now. I had planned on going off to Home Depot, Target, and Best Buy before supper. I’m starting to get a pain in my head/neck that makes me think that is not a wise move. So, I guess I’ll surf around a tiny bit more and then head back to my apartment.
Knowing that the connection is decent here, I may try to upload some photos and post a couple of “progress” photos here.

How exciting for you!
Make sure you pick up some Blue Bell ice cream when you go to the store, you know, to celebrate that you moved.
It’s the best store ice cream in the world.
I am waiting excitedly for new pictures, so I hope you can post them soon.
Have fun and stay cool!!

I totally found my local library when I first move too! Meant I read a few books and took out some movies. I have thought about buying the first couple of Lake in the Clouds books because I borrowed them from you way back when and I kind of want to read them again.
