Flowers for Saturday – Daylilies
I can’t decide which of these 4 photos I like the best. So, I’m posting them all.
Last Saturday, I took a vase out into our front yard and cut these out of our landscaping. I decided I might as well have them inside where I could enjoy them the most.
I think that this brown blanket background might show off the details on the yellow flowers better than the black.
As the weeks/days go on, I’ll post the close-ups. I took 75 good photos (88 total), so I’ll have a fair number to post.

Yes – they are all beautiful!

Thanks! I thought so too. Each one highlights different aspects, I thought.

Yellow flowers!!! You knew they’d get me
These are beautiful and I love the vase, too. I am catching up on your posts today. I don’t know what’s up but I’m just not writing or reading blog posts much lately. With the yard and the living room remodel I guess I don’t have the energy for a lot more than that.
But these are beautiful and I’m looking forward to seeing more.

Ah yes, you and yellow! I’d send some to you right now if I could.
For now, you’ll just have to enjoy the photos.
The vase came with orchids that HB got for me. It is the nicest one I own that I actually use. I have a pottery vase from Texas Seestor that it just decorative. And a couple of other crystal vases. I suppose I could use them….
… but I worry about them breaking.
Anyway, I figured you were busy with yard stuff. I know you aren’t ‘around’ much in the summer.

Those are really pretty. I do agree that the brown blanket shows off the detail of the lillies better than the black, but I like the contrast the black background brings.
It is just so nice to see some fresh flowers.
Do you take the pictures on the couch or use the floor? I only ask because the transition from the floor to the back looks really fluid and not sharp and I like it.
And I love the vase. It’s so curvy.
Did I give you some lilly bulbs a few years ago?
Anyway, thanks for sharing!

I drape a sheet over the side of a chair and have it come down and cover the floor.
This is something I noticed the professional photographers use in their studios for floor shots (i.e. when I did my senior HS photos). They have a wall that curves upward.
Someday, I will actually make some sort of official frame with a truly smooth surface in black and then one in white and maybe one in gray. I like the look of cloth – felt would probably work really well….
…. anyway. Thanks for the compliments!
No, I didn’t get any lily bulbs from you. These were all ones that were here when we moved in.
I should probably buy some of the pink ones. Daylilies seem to do much better than any other kind of perennial around the house.
