WordPress

I don’t know how many of you have stopped by in the past week (or more?) and found that nothing has changed AND that you can’t comment.

As it turns out, my blog basically froze up and wouldn’t let me post and the comments weren’t working either.  HB, my trusty admin, tried to fix the problem to no avail.  This led to the decision to switch from Movable Type to WordPress.  The switch took place today (Sunday) and I’m looking forward to getting back to posting in my copious free time (ha).  No really, I think that I’ll be able to post on the weekends at least.  Hopefully weekly.  I think Flowers for Friday might be on permanent hiatus.

So, I had plans for a different design (a.k.a. theme).  But for some reason, the site with the theme I wanted was working yesterday and is totally crapped out today.  I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get switched to that theme or not.  It is one that wouldn’t have one of my own photos at the top. However, I like the colors better.  Orange is okay for October, but I’m not sure that I want to stay with orange forever.  Thus, if you think the colors are crappy, feel free to say so. I won’t be offended.  I’m thinking a nice purple or light blue would be better.  But, before HB puts a lot of work into fixing this theme, we’ll see if this other one comes back from the land of the lost first in the next few weeks.

In other news, I have a whole post written up about some books I’ve read recently; I fell in love with them.  But for now, I thought I’d post this general thing about the blog change.  And then I’ll get to the books in the near future.

I’m not sure what kinds of changes you will notice with commenting.  I’m hoping that it isn’t too weird.  Maybe you should mention that in your comment.

I am glad to see your website up and running again! The colors are okay, and I think I am going to have to get “used” to it. I do like the lighter background colors much better. Very pretty flowers, too!

Yay! The Danielle Blog is back!

I like the black background. The flower pictures looks especially cool against the black. The orange is pretty neat, although it did take me a minute to get “used” to it (as Amber put it). A purple or light blue would also look good.

I have to look and see how old posts with pictures look and post another comment.

A big shout out to HB for getting it going again!

OK. One more comment. I went and look at some of the previous posts with pictures. My only suggestion would be to have the color of the picture outline be in the same family or complimentary to what you eventually choose as your theme color…or make it black or some nuetral color. Just my 2cents.

Hey, the picture looks better now. I noticed that it was big, then repeating, and now it looks fixed. I hope you can find a theme that suits you better. Although the colors right now are fitting for the season. :)

And here is the one that I like better. Although I’m noticing that the font as I write my comment is very very pale. I think otherwise, this is waaaaaaaaaay better and is the one that I will stick with.

    Any thoughts on this one?

I don’t know if you have since played with the font, but this looks nice! I’m a fan of the flowers at the top, although you have so many great ones that if you can put one of yours up eventually, that would make it more personal.

It does say that the comments were made “July October 21st, 2008″, which is interesting. :-)

I’ve always like the crisp papery background designs. I think they are cool.

    I like the new design.

I noticed the “July October” as well. That, however, if you choose to leave it alone, makes a very interesting characteristic of your blog. You could claim, “It is always July on Danielle Blog!” ;-)

Oh, wow, I just noticed that the green starts to fade and dirt starts to appear, as if we are going underground. That is the effect, right?

Like this design, too. Both this one and the previous one gave your blog a new look which is fun. I like the font and the paper.

I like the new look. The letters are a bit light, but it’s okay. Since you changed your blog I lost your RSS feed. Not that I’ve good about keeping up lately. Just been too busy. Sounds like you’re staying plenty busy too.

Yes, the July October thing is something I noticed this morning too and will be asking HB to look into. I do like the “it’s always July at DanielleBlog” though….

Squirl, that reminds me that I need to see if HB can get an RSS feed button set up. I don’t think you’ve missed any posts. It was all kind of frozen until we got this switched over to WordPress.

Well that explains why your RSS hasn’t been updating. I just thought you were taking a break. Glad to see you’re still here!
