Bob, I'm glad this helped. It is interesting to hear your take on MixMeister and Cadence BPM Tapper. If the website I've linked to ever goes defunct, I'll wish I'd had the name in there!

You know what is funny is that I wrote this post in 2008, it is now fall of 2011, and I haven't created any new exercise mixes since then!? I still have "exercise 1" "exercise 2" "exercise 3" and "exercise 4" as playlists, and I use them when I go out walking. I think I may need to make some new lists. Maybe it will get me motivated to go out and do some exercise walking again! I'm glad you commented, Bob, because it brought this post back into my thinking again.

Thanks Daniel

I have been using Cadence BPM Tappper to measure the BPM of the music I like for walking. I too have used MixMeister and it does a great job, but the beat used for walking is often not the same as that measured by software amnd needs a more personal interpretation.

Rather than doing a random selection I have split my music into playlists eg 80-100, 100-120, 120-140, 140-160 using iTunes smart playlists

Just wandered upon your site after looking for workout music on google. I am so glad you posted this list. I have the hardest time finding music that I like that has a walking beat. I love a lot of the songs on your list. Thanks!

Well, the weather was great 7 out of 8 days. Yesterday was really warm.

I've been taking a cold, wet washcloth with me to wipe off my face and arms and that seems to be helping me regulate my body temp a little better.

Soak up the sun is actually on my list (120).

Looks like walking on sunshine is 110. Looks like Gin and Juice is 118; a little odd, that one.

You're a walking maniac, Danielle! Is the weather good for walking these days?

I'll have to go back and check out the website you linked to, but off the top of my head, Sheryl Crow "Soak up the Sun", "Walkin' on Sunshine", and the Gourds version of "Gin and Juice" is funny...if you like that kind of thing.

Amber, I look forward to seeing your list.

Squirl, I'm impressed with your motivation to keep up a good pace. If I were just thinking, I'd crawl along, especially toward the end. I've been out 6 times in 7 days!

Wow, that's quite a list. I don't have an ipod so I just think about stuff when I walk. Good luck!

Amber, it would be fun if you figured out the pace of your "good walking" songs and we could compare them. You might find that there are ones in my list that would work for you, and vice versa.
For me, driving songs really depend on my mood. In the mornings, I want slower, melower music. In the evenings, I want mostly lively, danceable songs.
And no, I listened to clips of about 2 backstreet boys songs and decided that I didn't even want to bother.

Jenski, like I said for Amber, it would be fun to find out the pace/tempo and compare them and trade ideas on songs. I'm always looking for new songs.
