Dance War
I have watched 2 episodes of Dance Wars: Carrie Ann vs Bruno. They were promoting this show during Dancing with the Stars, since these 2 are judges for that show. It is proving to have a lot of good musical numbers so far. The contestants sing and dance to various pop (ish) songs. Some of them have really outstanding voices or are really good dancers. It is hard to find people with top skills at both, but they have some good ones.
The one complaint I have, though, is how the show is miked. When the crowd (mostly girls) start screaming during the songs (for the guys, usually), you can’t hear the singing and music anymore. It is really a problem that they need to work out. In addition, it was hard to hear some of the questions and comments with all of the yelling. I know this “creates excitement”, but it also creates annoyance.
So, with that caveat in mind, you might flip it on next monday and see the opening numbers. They will probably be good, if this week’s show is any indication.
AND tonight is the start of American Idol. This is the part of the show that can be sooo painful to watch and hear. However, it is worth going through the bad ones to hear the good ones.

Oh gosh, I wish that I didn’t have to see Jabba the Butt on America Idol last night. I can’t believe what some people do to get airtime. I really did like that one country-ish girl that got through. I want to see her make it all the way through.
I wasn’t sure about watching the Dance War, but maybe I will tune into it next time.
Danielle says:
Oh man, you are so right about what people will do to get on TV. ugh. Do you mean the girl that wore the red top and had to sell one of her barrel-racing horses to get to Philly?
If so, I liked her too.
There was an interesting girl on last night who does singing impressions and they had her do an impression of Britney Spears that was pretty funny.
Amber says:
Yeah, that red topped girl, I really liked her.
I also thought the Briitney Spears girl was pretty funny to watch. She was really good at impersonatiing her. I can’t believe the chinese(?) dude last niight with his own song. It wasn’t as bad as I was expecting it to be, at least. Simon’s reaction was priceless “Why do I have a bad feeliing this will be made into a hit record?”
Oh, that one guy last night that wouldn’t actually sing because he kept humming and “preparing” his voice and drinking water. That was a hoot for me.
I turned to Andy partway through the show and said, “Don’t ever delude me to think that I am good enough to be a pop star and try out for American Idol.”
hehehe
I do however think that I could dance pretty good with some practiice. I should try out the dance shows.
Danielle says:
Oh! that guy with the humming and water and all was just driving me NUTS! I couldn’t believe that they gave him a chance to do that before his actual audition. And then, he just assumed that he could keep doing it.
I’m glad they escorted him out. It was getting ridiculous.

I don’t usually watch these shows. Since Ichabod gets irritated with too much tv I have to be choosy. But, that does leave me more time for other things.
I do like good singing and dancing, though. My parents loved musicals and we had a number of records, and also some piano books.
The cheering crowd part would bother me. Sounds like they’re doing that on purpose. Maybe they think we’re not smart enough to “get” good music and they think we’ll get excited just because the crowd is. Dumbing down America.
Maybe I’ll watch the opening. It could be fun.
