wondering
Why do people use the words breakfast cereal? Why not just cereal? Is there such a thing as lunch cereal or supper cereal and we need to be sure to differentiate among them?
Just wondering.

Ern says:
There SHOULD be lunch cereal and dinner cereal. Mmmmmmm.
jenski says:
Hmmm…
I just looked it up.
I’m a dork.
It appears as though ‘cereal’ refers to grains in general. Apparently the word comes from ‘Ceres”, the Roman goddess of harvest and agriculture.
Danielle says:
I am grinning that you looked it up, Jenski! You are indeed an official part of dork-dom now.
Squirl says:
Hee, I love dork-dom. I’ll eat breakfast food any time of the day. How dare they restrict my cereal or egg intake to just morning.
Amber says:
Thank you for the laugh.
I have always wondered about the “breakfast cereal”.
I like my cereal anytime, thankyouverymuch.
Danielle says:
I guess, that when I was in college, I ate Kracklin’ Oat Bran as a dessert after any meal. It was pretty yummy. And I’d occasionally eat granola with chocolate chips as a snack. yummmmmm.

Do people say breakfast cereal? Weird. I call it cereal, just cereal.
jenski says:
Yum, Kracklin’ Oat Bran! I also enjoy Frosted Mini-wheats and whole grain Cheerios.
I have never called it breakfast cereal either, but figured I just had to know why some people do.
