100 things – 31 through 40 – travel and dreams

31. There are 2 places that I would like to ‘go next’. One of them is St. Croix. One of them is Hawaii. For both, I’d want to snorkel quite a bit. St. Croix is easier because we’ve been there before and know a hotel and restaurants to go to – it would also be less expensive. Hawaii has been a dream for a while.

32. In the meantime, I’m wondering if I could convince HB to take a trip “up north”. This means northern Minnesota.

33. I’d like to go to Europe. I’m not sure if England comes first, then Ireland & Scotland and where France and Italy fit in. But someday, I’d like to go to some of those places.

34. In movies, Venice and Tuscany look really appealing.

35. I just got my passport – about a month ago.

36. I used to want to go on a hot air balloon ride – now, I’m too afraid of heights.

37. I get weirded out when I’m in really deep ocean water. I start imagining all of the stuff that is below me. Hence, boat trips are a bit unnerving for me.

38. I’m a bit of a nervous flyer too – but I can usually manage okay.

39. One of my worries with going to developing countries is either catching some weird disease or having a medical issue while there and not being able to be treated. However, I’ve heard stories from friends of how amazing their trips were – and it makes me curious. Almost curious enough to overcome my worries about disease.

40. I’ve never traveled through the western U.S. – Grand Canyon, Mt. Rushmore, Pike’s Peak, etc. But I would like to do that too someday. That is probably a more realistic goal than a foreign country. HB and I have talked about doing that, but we’ve yet to get serious about making any plans.

    33. Italy would be #1 for me.

    35. I have still never gotten mine.

    39. The perils of being a biologist!

    40. If you ever go, I’ll give you lots of great recommendations of places to see! Especially for the rocky mountain and southwest desert regions. You might have to get NW tips from someone else. :)

I would love to someday go to Europe again. I went as a child, but don’t remember much at all. Ireland would be a dream come true, as would the Grand Canyon. I have been to Arizona…but nowhere near the Grand Canyon, unfortunately!

I’d definitely recommend taking a Hot Air Balloon Ride…it is awesome. I’m not big on heights either, but absolutely loved it. I’d go again if I had the extra cash to blow on it. Totally worth it!!!

Now that you have your passport, you need to get stamps! My parents just got back from Ireland and Scotland and loooooved it. The pictures look a lot sunnier than I would have though too.

If you go somewhere to snorkel, you might get cool underwater “flower” pictures. :) I am with you on the deep water thing. I think it is fascinating to think that there is a lot we do not know about the deep sea, but the idea of going past the edge of a continental shelf is scary because it is so dark and bottomless!

Lots of cool ideas here. I’m not a snorkeler so Hawaii doesn’t have the strong an appeal. But the western part of this country is quite beautiful. Sedona is my favorite.

We went to Germany 11 years ago. I never got outside of the country. I’d like to see Prague some day, though. And, since I’m Irish, I really should visit the Emerald Isle.

That’s good that you got your passport. Everyone should. They’re getting so security conscious that I’m afraid we may need it just to walk down the street one of these days.
