that’s entertainment

I realized this morning that some of the most interesting stuff in my life lately has been the movies and TV shows that I’ve watched.

We finally watched The Devil Wears Prada. I had my doubts that I would like it, because I thought it was going to be about the fashion industry – and face it – I’m just not into fashion. However, it turned out to be more about working relationships, demanding bosses, adjusting to a new career/job, worrying about your dreams, and how work can affect your personal relationships. It was all very interesting and funny.

The other things of note are that I’ve been watching the Grease – You’re the One that I Want show. Have you? I know many of you like music, and it is very good. They are picking the 2 leads to star in the Broadway production of Grease. The show originally airs on Sundays, but get re-broadcast during the week on Bravo. And it is well worth watching. There are a lot of really talented people on that show.

Finally, we started watching season 1 of 24. I bought it for HB for Christmas and it has taken us this long to be ‘in the mood’ to watch it. But now that we are watching it, I’m completely hooked! We watched 5 episodes on Friday and about 4 on Saturday and one last night. So, we are progressing through the 24 hours pretty well. It definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat, but is also a show that you must watch from the beginning. I don’t think it would make much sense if you tried to begin watching it in the middle of the season.

So, there is my excitement of late. Feel free to share any movies you’ve watched lately or TV shows you’ve become addicted to in the comments. :-)

Addicted to: Stargate SG-1 and proof of that is: I just went and spent $80 to buy the first two seasons because we were “in the mood” to watch them.

Also, I am glad you finally got to watch The Devil Wears Prada. There are just so many priceless moments in that movie, and I love it.

I wasn’t sure I was going to like it at first, but I did. It was one of those about fashion, but also making fun of it in a sense.

I like the scene where the girl brings her the manuscripts of HP book 7 and she was like, “How are the twins supposed to read this? It is only one copy and there are TWO of them?” and the girl was like, “I took the liberty of binding two copies and putting them on the train to (don’t remember where to) and this is just an extra for you.” And the old lady is like, “hum” in her very snobby way and turns around.

Of course, that is one of the major turns in the plot.

Okay, I hope I am not giving away too much for others who haven’t seen it.

I haven’t seen any more good movies lately, and I wish that I have. I am waiting for Marie Antionette to come out, but Andy doesn’t and refuses to see it, so I have noooo idea whatsoever how to watch that one. -_- Men.

The other thing that has been keeping me company is the Princess Bride book. I had no idea it was an abridged version, with all the “boring parts” removed. I find the book fascinatiing, anyway.

I just love that the marriage priest really does talk funny in the book! Oh gosh, I just had a hoot reading it.

Okay, I better finish up this longwinded comment now!

Glad to hear you liked Devil Wears Prada. I haven’t seen it yet, but I want to. We’re really enjoying NBC’s Thursday night lineup – The Office, Scrubs, 30 Rock. (And then, of course, ER with The Stud.)

I am addicted to the one hour dramas…Grey’s Anatomy, Men in Trees (this show is a hoot for those who haven’t seen it), ER (thank goodness for DVRs as on at the same time as Men in Trees), 7th Heaven (which I have watched since the 1st season), and so many more.

Haven’t seen any new movies lately. Just too tired by the end of the day to watch something more than an hour. A friend loaned us Cars, so that will probably be a movie we watch soon.

I am also addicted to Grease…You’re the One That I Want show. Thanks to Danielle, I was able to play catch up by watching some replays of the early shows.

I recently saw the Devil Wears Prada, too. I liked it a lot better than I thought I would. And isn’t it funny how you need to be in the mood to start watching something, like a series especially. But once you start you’re so hooked you don’t want to turn it off.
I just read Amber’s comment about the HP7 book in The Devil. Made me just a little bit jealous.

I just saw Prestige last night. That one’s really good. I enjoy the twists in it.

Desperate Housewives is a show I never thought I’d like, but was wrong. I love it. I now own the first two seasons and have been following the third faithfully.

I saw DWP too and enjoyed it – I never read the book and figure now I won’t because I usually only like to do that in the reverse (ie. book first, movie second).

Speaking of addicted, I am TOTALLY addicted to 24.,.and Keifer as Jack. :) Sounds like you will have to buy all the seasons to watch. This season they have brought back a lot of people/situations from the past couple of seasons, so you may not get who people are if you started watching.

Boy, I’m not behind on my blog reading, huh?

We watched The Prestige (out on DVD) and all four of us watching said “that was the best movie I’ve seen in a long time”. Definitely worth a rental.

TV: Heroes. The Office. Scrubs. And, America’s Next Top Model, my guiltiest pleasure started again tonight! I haven’t watched it yet, but will definitely enjoy in sometime in the next few days.
