Fuzzy Friend Friday – childhood friends

Mom has been going through the many boxes stored in the basement of our house. She has been working hard at sorting the many things we’ve accumulated over the years. Some of those are our childhood toys that we could never bear to give away.

They shipped me a box that arrived yesterday and it was Such Fun going through it and looking at the first round of toys. I must qualify that statement too by saying that I’d had a really discouraging day that was kind of long too, and I was pretty pooped when I got home. But this perked me right up!

Here are some of them:

Do you recognize them all? Probably all but the blue dog and the bunny. I labeled them all on Flickr, so click on the photo and scroll over each one to see who they are.

Did you have any of them? Who didn’t have a Garfield something or other? I had a Garfield bedspread even. I’d kind of forgotten about Odie though. Poor Odie, always getting forgotten.

Anyway, I have some ideas for future posts that incorporate the other toys so be on the lookout for those. :-)

Take care and have a good weekend. Hugs to you!

I found your Flickr picture before the post. I don’t have any of those. I must be too old for Garfield stuff.

But I do have a Mickey Mouse as the Sorcerer’s Apprentice and a Hedwig the owl.

How nice that those childhood memories came just when you needed a lift. :-)

I had the Smurfette! I tried to get rid of some stuffed animals a few years ago when my parents were moving. I had to keep the ragged music box stuffed duck and a couple of other things too. My big thing was Cabbage Patch kids…The first time the came out.

    Have fun with your toys!

What a great pick me up!

I remember almost all of these except for the blue dog and the bunny. Poor Odie..he does always seem to be forgotten. I somehow ended up with the Garfield sheets that went with your bedspread. I still use them whenever we need to throw a sheet on the couch. I can’t wait to see your future posts with the other toys!

Sorry to hear you had such a long day with discouraging results. Research can be like that sometimes. Hang in there!

Squirl, I had a feeling you’d see that Flickr picture right away, so even though I uploaded it last night, I kept it private until this morning. ;-)

Your Mickey Mouse and Hedwig sound really fun! I love the Hedwig stuff. I’ve always thought owls were really neat.

Jenski, I love that you had a Smurfette too! I was the right age for the Cabbage Patch kids, but I never got into them. I thought they looked less appealing than the fancy Barbies – like the ones with the really long hair – so I went the Barbie route.

You might not be able to tell, but some of these stuffed animals are rather beat up as well. The cookie monster and oscar the grouch both have eyes that are quite scraped up. But they are still lovable. :-)

Ah, Texas Seestor, you slipped in there on me when I was between starting and finishing my comment.

I had a feeling you’d remember most of them.

I think that the dog was a fairly late acquisition – possibly in my teen years. It reminded me so much of those ‘rope dogs’ that I love so much, that I just loved him, regardless of my age.

I’m looking forward to photographing the other toys. Ought to be a lot of fun. :-)

Loved the stuffed animals. I am a stuffed animal freak and now I have passed that love onto my son…isn’t that hilarious a boy who loves stuffed animals (he is only 5 though, so we’ll see how long it lasts). My old stuffed animals that actually survived with some fur/fleece have now all been turned over for new play time — after watching Toy Story I couldn’t possibly put them in a yard sale!
