Christmas version of Getting to Know Me – Part I.
I got this as an email from AquaSchwa. I was thinking that as we approach Christmas, I’d post the questions and answers to some of them on different days.
Feel free to chime in with your own answers if you feel like it. That is part of the reason why I’m just doing part of them at a time. I think it is too hard to do too many at once.
1. Egg nog or hot chocolate?
Hot Chocolate – did you really have to ask?
2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree?
As children, Santa wrapped presents and my sister and I would take turns opening them. Now that we are older, Santa doesn’t leave presents – they are all from family.
3. Colored or white lights on the tree/house?
White outside – living in New England for 7 years rubbed off on me. Almost everyone does the ‘classical’ white lights outside.
Colored inside – the more the better. But no flashing or craziness.
4. Do you hang mistletoe?
No, it always seemed like an odd tradition to me. I kiss the people I want to kiss when and where I want to kiss them; I don’t need prompting.
5. When do you put your decorations up?
The weekend of Thanksgiving if we are home. If we aren’t home, as soon as possible. Usually the weekend after. If I don’t do it that weekend, it kind of bugs me and makes me feel like I’m cutting short the Christmas season. Because by that time, the advent wreath is getting lit at church.

I like egg nog and hot chocolate equally, so that’s a tough one. I like white lights, and the bigger the better. I strung my tree with big ol’ bulbed lights this year. And my decorations are always limited to the month of December. They go up after the 1st, and MUST be down before the new year.

I’m a fan of both egg nog and hot chocolate, too. I go back and forth on the white vs colored lights. There are only Christmas cards up here, no other decorations this year.
That was fun to read.

Hmmm…instead of lurking I’ll post.
1. One glass of eggnog on holidays but otherwise hot chocolate.
2. I didn’t know there was an option not to wrap presents! That’s half the surprise!
3. Colored on the tree and white outside – I love those big bulbs, kalki!
4. I have, but just for decoration, not use.
5. The weekend after Thanksgiving – a fairly recent tradition is for my sister, her family and my brother and I if we’re in the area to go to my parents to help them put up and decorate their 11 foot tree. In return they buy us ours.

Finally getting around to posting answers to Danielle’s questions. I have been a bit busy as you all can understand, I am sure…
1. Hot chocolate
2. Danielle already answered this one for me. It was always great fun to unwrap presents from Santa on Christmas morning. One thing Danielle didn’t say is that we always went to our grandparents farm house for Christmas. Somehow, Mom and Dad always managed to hide our wrapped presents from Santa in bags and get them into and out of the car without our knowledge. Very sneaky!
3. Colored lights on the tree inside. Both colored and white lights outside.
4. No mistletoe.
5. This varies depending on the year. Typically, the first weekend after Thanksgiving. This year we decorated little by little and a lot of the inside decorating was done by Trainwreck’s mom and our mom.
