Flowers for Friday – Roses at Como Park

DSC_4252

This rose was at the Como Park Conservatory. I like it particularly because the center of the rose looks so ruffly. I guess that ruffly-ness is different than what I’ve seen in most roses, and I like that uniqueness.

This rose, may be a better photo. I trust Sheryl’s opinion on all photography matters, and she liked the light and textures on this one.

And to round out the rose photos, there was also a red one.

I’m not particularly fond of the photo. Well, let me rephrase. I”m not particularly fond of how the rose looks in the photo, but I do like the jaggedness of the leaves. Mainly, I think that the three colors seem to go together nicely, so I’ve gone ahead and included it.

Looking at these rose photos got me thinking of how my mom’s rose garden usually includes multiple colors of flowers. It also started thinking about how we don’t have any roses at our new home. I assume that roses can withstand the Minnesota winters (these were all indoors), because there was a rose garden at a local tea house. I seem to recall that the bushes were entirely covered with straw/mulch when we saw them in winter. Regardless of what it takes to keep them alive, I think I’d like to have a bush or two here at the house. I’ll have to look into that.

Hope you enjoy the roses!

I know they were selling some Rose bushes at Home Depot the other day when I went there. I bet they do grow up here with some love and nuturing. :)

Thanks for the lovely pictures. I had a wonderful time with you at Como.

The pink one reminds me of buttermints and soft pink sheets. I just feel so…fluffy now. :)

    Thanks.

    Lovely photos, as usual, dear.

The white one is my favorite, too.

    Nice!

Amber is lucky. I can’t think of anything I’d like to do with you more than visit a conservatory.

SOMEDAY, we will do that. We have to.

Lovely rose pictures. I don’t know why you can’t have roses there. They live here in Michigan. Good luck if you try them. :)

I have always loved the smell of “real” garden-grown roses above those bought in the stores. There is just something about them that smells so AMAZING. : )
