Hot exercising chicks and chicos – week 7

I have a belated story to go with this week’s entry.

While Texas Seestor was here, she encouraged me to buy a Cardio Pilates DVD. Then she insisted that we do the DVD together. Now, mind you, I’d had the flu a couple days before and was, well, gassy, to put it mildly.

So, we start this DVD and one of the very first positions the instructor wants us to do is this crazy ass rocking thing where you put your legs out straight at an angle in front of you, you grab your ankles and then rock back onto your back and then rock forward into this position again. I’d do pictures, but I’m just not up for it right now.

With conviction, I jut my legs out at an angle and grab my ankles and then I pause, because I feel this urge. Well, I blithely ignore the urge and rock back and toooooooooooot! Yes, indeedy, the urge was not going to be ignored.

Texas Seestor was willing to take the high road and ignore that I’d just toooted really very loudly while contorting myself into this odd position, but I started giggling. And we all know what happens when you are gassy and start giggling, right?
It Just. Gets. Worse. and Goes Downhill From There.
toot tooot toooooooooooooooot Giggle giggle giggle Then SHE starts giggling and it just snowballs.
Finally, I pause the DVD to go to the bathroom and to wipe the tears from my eyes from giggling.

You’ve heard of Richard Simmon’s Sweatin’ to the Oldies, right?

Well, I think this DVD will now be known as Tootin’ to Pilates.

How did you do this week?

Monday – shoveled snow, but not much because of the snow-thrower!
    Tuesday – Tootin’ to Pilates
Wednesday – none – cake with Amber instead ;-)
Thursday – walk for 45 min
Friday – walk and JOG* for 40ish minutes
    Saturday – none – sick
    Sunday – none – sick

    * Yes! I’m at the point where I can now add jogging into my walking! Just a little bit at a time, but this is a huge step for me!

Great story, Danielle! I’m so glad to see that you are sticking with the exercising, I will get back into the grove soon.

I didn’t do so well in making it to the fitness center…we walked down there twice and the machines were busy and the place was packed. It only has 1 bike, 1 treadmill, 1 stairmaster, and the weight center, so if it is full you can forget about getting on anything. We should have went walking, but we didn’t.

I’ve done a lot of packing, and cleaning over the last two days and will be doing alot more over the next week. Moving day is fast approaching. I’ve got eight days of work left, and we leave Charlotte on March 31st. There is still soooooo much to do!

We are planning on trying to get an eliptical machine or stairmaster once we get settled in to our new home. Until we do, we will have to walk, since we won’t have the gym.

I am doing very well on my diet, and have plans to stick to it through the move. That maybe hard, but I’m determined to lose some weight.

The other night the guy right next to me at yoga class RIIIIIIPPPPed one while in a similar position. I hope nobody thought I did it. (I didn’t eat dinner before class just so I wouldn’t have to worry about “breaking the silence”)

Momo – when you go to get your exercise machine, you might consider 2nd hand. We got a great treadmill for $100. We definitely got our money’s worth with that one.

Metro – Seee I knew you were holding out on us. I’d seen you mention yoga on one of your posts and was thinking you’ve got to join in and tell us about your activity! It will be encouragement for the rest of us.
As for the yoga farting stories, I’m starting to think it must be something about working your abs so hard. Mistaken farting identity is bad news.

    Sunday – Bowling
Monday – Walk 15 minutes and dance 15 minutes
    Tuesday – Dance 30 minutes
Wednesday – I had cake. :-D (Does going up and down the stairs a bunch count? ;) )
    Thursday – Dance 15 minutes
    Friday – Notta
Saturday – Lots of housework. (Hey! This counts!!!)
    Sunday – I am sick.

AND oh my goodness, I had a good laugh.

It’s always those silly positions that make you let one rip. I have always noticed that when I do sit ups or bending my abs in weird contortions, that I usually manage to have something let loose.

    tootin to pilates..woooo

I honestly think that farts are a way of cheering us up. Laughing gas, as one may say. Sure, it’s embarrassing, but when it’s all done and over with you sure get a good laugh in. :)

Just thinking of the whole ‘tooting with pilates’ still makes me laugh. Trainwreck and I recounted the story to a Texas friend upon our return and she thought it was an absolute hoot!

Hmmm…sad week of exercising for me.

Sunday: Shopping and bowling (shopping should count as lots of running around store and bending and turning to pull clothes on and off).
Monday: Shoveled the snow that the snow blower didn’t blow. Also, played snowball baseball with shovel.
Tuesday: Walked around airport waiting for delayed flights.
Rest of the week: Nothing, unless you count the housecleaning I did on Saturday.

So far this week is starting out better. I exercised yesterday and have high hopes for today.

Tootin’ to Pilates. I’m crackin’ up. I had to tell Ichabod. I will never grow up in this respect and don’t intend to. Let’s see, what did I do?

    Monday – Walked 20 minutes
    Tuesday – Nada
    Wednesday-Walked 30 minutes
Thursday – Walked about 45 minutes all told in the airport.
    Friday – Walked 15 minutes
    Saturday – Walked 15 minutes

Not the best, but better than I’ve done so far this week.
