Contrast

There was something about the way the snow on the deck railing looked as I viewed it from my kitchen window. It seemed like a neat Z-shape. However, I couldn’t quite get the same angle outside. But I did find a bird’s-eye-view that I liked.

Then when I turned to go back inside, I couldn’t resist another shot of the snow as it melted on the deck and the afternoon shadows that were cast by the railing.

I took this next one, because it reminded me of Squirl saying how much she likes the way the snow looks on the evergreens.

for Squirl

Those trees have been looking really nice the last few days as the sun shone on them. (no pictures of that yet, because I was thinking that to really get the right shot, I need to go outside…)

The table on the downstairs deck reminded me of a mushroom.

And again, as I turned, I liked the way the snow looked as it accumulated on the dark wood of the stairs connecting the two decks.

Anyone up for a snowball fight?

I like how the snow is still falling in some of the pictures you took.

Nothing like those inches of snow on the trees and railings.

    Did somebody say “snowball fight”?!

    *Zzzeeaaarm* *smack*

    War *has* begun.

I love the look of undisturbed snow. So fresh and clean and white. Your pics are lovely, Danielle.

uh, I never was very good at aiming.

(tries to hit Amber) *poof* (misses)

I’ll just have to sneak up behind you and *plop* *plop* drop one on top of each of your heads.

    Thanks for the compliments, dearies.

As for the whiteness, Ladybug. You know, I think what always catches my eye is how Bright the snow is when the sun hits it. It really draws your eye.

And I have really come to appreciate the undisturbed snow.
Quick story: As a child, I didn’t understand why my friend’s mom (another Amber) didn’t want us to play in the front yard or make footprints through it. But we did as she requested. As an adult, I see the beauty of it and can completely understand her desire to have at least one part of the yard look pristine.

    SNOW – NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Bring on the beach and the drinks with funny umbrellas!

Snow is sure nice to look at, but not much fun to drive in :-P .

BTW, Mother Hen, I think we have a pile of funny little paper umbrellas from Hawaii. We’ll have to save some for you to put in your drink.

Undisturbed snow is really pretty. My other personality just said that, I hate snow.

But you did show some very good examples of snow on evergreens. You got that Z from the bird’s eye view. The next one really struck me how the shadow of the railing make like a 45% angle to the boards on the deck.

The table really does look like a mushroom. And the contrast between the white of the snow and the dark wood of the deck is really good in that last shot.

    Really nice shots!

Trainwreck *sniff* you have to save just one for me too – we’ll be there again one of these times.

Do you know that when I was little, I used one of those drink umbrellas as an umbrella for my dolls for _years_. Eventually, the little red ring holding the umbrella open broke.

I still have a special place in my heart for pirate swords, drink umbrellas, and those little folding things that are skinny when they are shut and 3-D when they are open (I’ve seen them as a pineapple before). They never seem to want to put those little things on the non-alcoholic drinks.

Squirl, Thanks! And thanks for the details of what you liked about them!

    BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I’ve never been THIS cold in my ENTIRE life, even while living in Indiana.

The snow totally makes up for it, though, especially when it’s pretty and the *sun* shines on it.

I didn’t realize until now that I didn’t comment about the “z” and I really wanted to.

I think that it looks very neat.

It reminds me of something, but I just can’t put my finger on it. *Thinking long slender text…*

    I’ll get back to ya.

I really like those pictures, very artistic :) One of my mom’s cats likes to lay on her stomach while she’s sleeping, and the other 4 just like to lay REAL close to her, and around her :P I think you have good artistic ability :)
