Self Portrait Day – week 1

Due to a certain photo that Amanda B. took of herself, the idea of self-portrait day was born in her comments. Big kudos to Mihow for setting it all up on a special site (which actually won’t be up until next week, but that’s okay, right?). In the meantime, she is hosting 20 pictures on her site. (click on her name if you want to see them)

The questions, with my answers are as follows:

1. What is your first name?

Danielle

2. Where do you live?

In a lovely home with my hubby and cat, halfway between Boston, MA and Providence, RI.

3. Where were you when you first discovered the Internet and how old were you at the time?

In a computer lab at my high school; I was 17.

4. What is your favorite sandwich?

I have so many that I love, but I guess my favorite is a spicy sausage with yellow mustard (Hot Links by Johnsonville).

5. On a Sunday evening you can be found ___________.

sitting on my corner of the couch (see photo) watching 60 Minutes and American Dreams looking at blogs during the muted commercials.

This photo was taken with a Sony Cyber-shot.

I am holding a cup of All Day Breakfast Tea.

Now, do you feel edge-a-ma-kate-ed about me?

Yup, I thought so.

Very cute pic. I loooove that kitty cat. That is a very warm and cozy shot, makes me want to crawl back into bed.

I love that you got the cat, the computer, and the tea all in one shot. Makes me want to sing, “These are a few of my favorite things…”

Did you do that with a timer, or did hubby take that shot for you? (I was just wondering if you had to scramble to get under the blankie, get situated, and try to look relaxed before the timer went off.)

Agreed. That damn cat is awesome. What a fat-head! He(she?) must come over and play with Schmitty, our chubby tabby boy. :] Love the picture. You look so cozy and warm!

Thanks for all the compliments on the picture. This morning I was lamenting that it looked too yellowish…. I guess we can call that the ‘cozy’ glow.

    ;)

As for taking it, Ladybug. I took about 8 pics with the self-timer and tripod, and worked up a sweat trying to get covered with the blanket and hold the laptop ‘just so’ to get all but my eyes covered (and not forget to smile, in order to get the crinkled-eye effect). ugh.

I finally, realized I wanted to do a tea cup effect instead and asked HB to click the shutter for me (and tell me when the tea cup was in the right place). And of course, Girlie-girl had to jump up and get involved in the action; she is such a camera hog.

So, I hope that doesn’t ruin it for anyone, but I’d need a 20 second self-timer to do that photo alone.

I’m so glad you came by, Mihow and kristine! I see your names all the time; you are on my list of “one of these days, I’ll spend more time looking at their blogs in-depth”. I’ll stop by your blogs later tonight when I’m home. :)

    Hooray for self-portrait day.

Danielle, I think your kitty jumping in front of the camera like that made the shot just perfect. Like I said yesterday….kitty, laptop, tea….These are a few of your favorite things, right?

    Ladybug, Absolutely!

They are absolutely some of my favorite things. 8-)

There was a moment when I thought about holding some chocolate in one hand, and tea in the other…and then I said nahhhh… I’m not really a 2 fisted eater/drinker.

And I LOVE the Sound of Music. As kids, we’d sing the songs over and over and over again. I still know most of the words to

    Do, Re, Mi

    My Favorite Things

    I am 16, going on 17

I’m sure I’m forgetting some other great ones… but those pop into my head right away.
